Rest Well to Test Well--Wellness Sessions at MHS

MHS Health teacher Maggie Dow is a keen observer of her students.  She saw students making poor personal health choices, which compromised their ability to do well on tests and in their daily life at school.  She created wellness sessions, hosted by different teachers each month, during the lunch blocks at the high school and hosted in the Barge.

At these sessions, students can relax, have tea or a healthy snack, and learn about making smart choices to maximize success.

During the days and weeks before the session, Maggie passes out postcards to students who look like they may benefit from her wellness sessions.  She worked with Ann Kaste to create these.

At the last session on November 21, Laura Herbst, Advanced Learning Coordinator at MHS, spoke to students about Organization and Time Management.  She gave students a list of helpful tips to help them prioritize, initiate tasks, and avoid distractions.

Maggie is excited for her next session, coming up next week on December 10 about Goal Setting and Resilience.  If you are nearby, stop in during one of the lunch mods and see what great things are going on in the Wellness Sessions in the Barge!
