Here is a photo of this clever contraption:
Students stand under the dome and use an ipad to select the music they would like to listen to. Soon beautiful melodies float down to calm or inspire them! The engineering of the dome shape keeps the music fairly well contained to the immediate vicinity of the listener.
They can choose from playlists of professional music or student-created music.
The sound dome sits outside of David's music classroom, and students waiting for lessons to begin can find inspiration or simply pass the time by listening to music.
This is another great example of things that are going on around our district that you probably never heard about. Do you have a great idea that can positively impact student learning or our school learning environment? You can make it happen with a little persistence and partnership from school and innovation staff. Reach out to your building innovation site rep or any of the design team representatives here in the district. Happy innovating!
